Trapped with No Way Out? Break the Maze!

What if the path you’re trying to take simply… doesn’t exist?

Life can be aMAZEing

My family loves building puzzles, like the rubix cube and I like to plan activities and games for our children when we have free time.

Last year, I thought I had found the perfect solution to keep my children occupied during vacation.

I got JL a Star Wars-themed activity book filled with puzzles and challenges.

Seemed like the best of both worlds—keeping screen time low by engaging their knack for problem-solving and catering to his love of Star Wars.

It was a win-win. Or so I thought.

One afternoon, JL storms into my room, frustration written all over his face.

“This maze is rigged,” he declared, emphatically pointing to the book.

I waved him off at first, assuming he just needed to try harder.

But when I took a closer look, my analytical brain wouldn’t let me ignore the challenge.

HIS CLAIM? “Greef Karga has no way through the maze. Every path led to a dead end.”

MY RESPONSE: “Try going from the finish line to the start,” I suggested.

We traced three different routes, and the result was clear: JL was right. The puzzle was impossible.

Of course, like any good Caribbean parent, I seized the opportunity for a life lesson.

“Sometimes, son, no matter what path you take, you hit obstacle after obstacle. That’s when you have two choices—give up or determine to create an out-of-the-box solution. Sometimes you just have to go around…”

I took my pencil and drew a line outside the maze, connecting the start to the finish.

We both laughed out loud, but inside, I reflected on how this philosophy got me through some of my darkest, confusing days in life.

There were moments when the doors didn’t just close—they disappeared altogether.

Times when no logical solution existed.

That’s when my father’s words came back to me:

“Kesha, sometimes the doors won’t open. Sometimes you hit a brick wall. That’s when you need dynamite.”

Life isn’t always a puzzle with a clear path.

Relationships, careers, and personal growth often feel like those impossible mazes—full of blockages, setbacks, and dead ends.

Unlike the creator of that activity book, our Creator sees every path, every obstacle, every possibility.

Solving puzzles as a family.

So maybe the way forward isn’t where you thought it would be.

Maybe it’s time to think beyond the maze. Consider an out-of-this-world solution.

And when all else fails?

Bring some dynamite 😉🧨

Boom & Bloom … in solitude 🌸
