I met an angel at a spa

The Day I Met an Angel

I had the distinct privilege of taking a dear friend to a spa for some much-needed care and relaxation.

We stepped into Glorious Bodies Glorious Minds (GBGM)… and that’s when it happened.

I met an angel 😇

…okay, not a literal angel — but it was definitely a heavenly moment.

We were greeted by a warm, welcoming smile, and my friend was gently escorted to the room where she’d receive her massage.

Then came the unexpected question.

“Aren’t you going to wait for your friend?” the angel asked.

“Well, I was just going to walk around the grocery store and kill time,” I replied casually, ensuring my friend’s services for the day were settled.

She looked at me, smiled, and said, “Oh no! I’m going to give you a foot massage, and you are going to rest & relax while you wait for her. You did something to care for your friend, and now we’re going to take care of you.”

I was stunned. And as she spoke, I started praying silently, ‘God…what is happening? I know my feet were a little sore and swollen but… a free foot massage?’

Ms. Nathalie Martina Harris

Nathalie, my angel for the day, led me to one of the rooms at the back. Along the way, I caught sight of a calming waterfall wall near the pedicure and manicure area. Every staff member I passed greeted me kindly.

Then I settled into the most comfortable lounge chair, elevated my feet, and began to unwind as Nathalie gently rubbed my feet.

I took the opportunity to let her know how much this simple act meant to me.

You see, for years, I was the family foot washer. Even as a youth during fundraiser spa days, I washed feet. It was a humble role, one that I carried with grace.

And there, in that peaceful room, Nathalie reminded me, “Isn’t that what life is about? Caring for others.”

She smiled gently and added, “You bless someone, and God sends someone to bless you.”

I later learned that this was not just her personal belief but the core philosophy of her business — beautifully captured on the company’s website and, more importantly, lived out before my very eyes.

For the past 11 years, Nathalie has been building a thriving business centered on caring for people—which she stressed also meant taking care of her staff. A retired corporate executive and chemist, she’s even created her own unique, proprietary aesthetic product line.

By the end of my massage, I found myself lying there, repeating in my mind, ‘Relax, Kesha… just relax.’

And I realized—I didn’t even know how to do that anymore.

Time seemed to slip away, and before I knew it, a warm blanket was draped over me. Another staff member reassured me softly, “Relax… it’s okay to rest. … so I did.

I didn’t even realize when I drifted off to sleep, cradled by the sound of flowing water and soft jazz melodies. I felt like a VIP.

When I finally stirred, I went to check on my friend—only to find her already radiant and relaxed, in the middle of her pedicure. It seemed all of the cares of the world had simply melted away.

Mission accomplished!

We left GBGM that day having received the kind of care we didn’t even realize we needed.

I am amazed at how God places people on your journey, to inspire & impact your life. .

I’m grateful to have met this angel, the one sent with a message I will never forget:

Caring for others and showing kindness is not just something we do for a reward… it is a core part of our humanity.
