In 2024, it seemed like security had a special interest in me.
Every time I traveled, I found myself in a similar scenario.
This time, I had SSSS printed on my boarding pass.
What it officially stood for was “Secondary Security Screening Selection.”
But I told my kids it was a badge of honor.
“It’s because I’m part of a Super Secret Special Squad,” I joked, watching their wide-eyed curiosity.
Still, the routine grew familiar: pulled aside, questioned in a small room, my bags meticulously searched, even swabbed for traces of something.
This happened on flights near and far—even during a simple trip from Trinidad to Tobago. Just a short hop across the islands of my home country.
They scanned my bag, each time, the machine lit up like I was hiding something dangerous.
Empty bag. Machine still beeped.
Another check. Another scan.
By the end of the year, I started to see it differently.
Maybe this wasn’t just a series of ‘random’ physical searches.
It was symbolic.
2024 became a year of soul-searching for me.
I began reflecting on my hidden baggage—the attitudes and unresolved issues that could harm my journey.
What if there were “explosives” in my own heart?
Things that could ignite anger, bitterness, or broken relationships?
So, I went deeper.
I intentionally worked on my processing—my “whys.”
Why do I react this way? Why does this bother me?
It was uncomfortable but necessary. Truth can shed light, clarifying one’s lens of perception; or it can be like a laser, precise & cutting.
As I stand on the edge of 2025, I sense a new phase: inspection and revelation.
Not by airport security, but by the light of truth.
The question is no longer, “What’s in my bag?”
Instead, it’s, “What kind of baggage am I carrying into 2025?” 🎒
What about you?
Are you still carrying grudges from 2024?
Unfinished goals? Unspoken words?
It’s time to unpack.
Don’t let anything weigh you down or stop you from reaching your destination.
Bloom in solitude. 🌸
